The Classroom Environment
c) Managing Classroom Procedures
To the right is an example of what the students saw on the board as they get into chemistry class. Their task when the bell rings is to start on the bell ringer. Sometimes it is as simple as getting out a piece of paper, while other times, the students may be asked to answer a question on a homework page. In the middle school classroom I included agenda writing and a timer with a buzzer for them to be ready by. |

d) Managing Student Behavior
The document is the reflection after videotaping my lesson. I found that in the back of the classroom, there was behavior that I didn't notice during the class. Some kids were working very hard and never got a positive affirmation of their work, while others were off-task and I didn't notice. |
e) Organizing Physical Space
The images to the right are from the art class I taught in during 4th quarter. To create a sense of importance of their work, we had a gallery in the back of the room. At the end of a unit, each period chose works of their classmates that they liked the best. I let the decision to be up to each other because at this age, that is the most applicable audience of their artwork. |
